About 6 years ago I suggested to some of my friends who owned  restaurant businesses that they should leverage the power of how to get customers to sign up for email newsletter.

All my friends kind of looked at me as if I was crazy but because I knew the value of a website visitor and the value of a  customers email in the long term if something were to happen to their website, their business or there would be like in this instance today with this pandemic you still have your customers email information whom you could contact them via email at any time by sending them discounts or new developments with your business.

This is how powerful the value of email subscribers are to any business, no matter what kind of business. The current value for an email subscriber toady has skyrocketed because there is not many people engaging person to person and instead they are shopping online, it is the reason many brick and mortar businesses have closed their doors.

Here we are six years later and majority of local businesses still have not considered getting customers subscribe to an email service and as a result many have closed their doors because of this pandemic situation. I suggested that they would offer the customers an incentive for signing up to their email newsletter.

It is the easiest and fastest way to get customers to provide their email information with you. Most people always want a discount, save money or get something for free, it is our nature. In other words offer email sign up incentives.

If you have a restaurant business you could be giving them a free desert with their meal or offering a 10% discount on their purchases. For example: Many businesses offset their discounts by raising the price by 10% of the cost of their product or you could split the difference and absorb the 5% off the price.

Basically you have to know your numbers for your business and what you can afford to give as an incentive. Most importantly you are getting your customers email information in exchange which is more valuable as a long term customer value.

Over a period of time you will continue to gather and track this data to figure out more accurately how much is your customer value. If you have a website or blog which is highly recommended way of promoting your business and even potentially getting more subscribers to your email list who are interested in staying in touch with you and your business. You can use this to also give your readers more offers and incentives to visit your business.

To get subscribers to your email list you need a reliable email autoresponder service that allows you to stay in touch with them and send them promotions or any events taking place with your business. Email autoresponder services like Aweber, MailChimp, GetResponse are a few you could to use to gather email subscriptions and customer emails.

I have personally used Aweber email autoresponder services for over 11 years and the main reason why is because I do affiliate marketing and Aweber is affiliate marketing friendly so you will never have problems with your affiliate business. Others are not so friendly and you might run into some challenges. Besides Aweber is a top notch service and great customer support which has been around since 1998.

Aweber also has a free subscription with a limit of 500 subscribers but can get you started right away if you are on a low budget and then upgrade to one of the other packages available. Their packages are very reasonable and a must have invaluable service for your business.

This is my own experience with Aweber but ultimately it is up to you to decide which one is right for your business. If you are a local business I highly recommend you giving away something of value in exchange for their email like a “How To Training” – If your a hardware store maybe a training on how to install tiles or how to paint properly, how to install a fence or anything associated with your business that they would like to learn.

If you are a restaurant business you could offer a 10% discount or give away a free recipe of your apple pie or how to make one of your popular dishes. The idea is that they are getting something worth giving up their email. It’s not only how to get customers to sign up for email  newsletter but when they do provide their email you should greet them with a warm message as the first message and continue to build a relationship by sending out an email at least once or twice a week.

I am subscribe to many email lists in business, investing, blogging and marketing which means I receive many emails which I find relevant to my business and important for me to stay up to date with business and markets. The point of this is that being an email subscriber myself, your customers and readers want to hear about you and you’re business if you provide some kind of value to them.

Also limit your promotions to at least once a week so they don’t feel like you’re just pitching them or trying to sell them something all the time.

When engaging with your subscribers and emailing them do not implement hyped wording that could turn off your subscribers and as a result make them unsubscribe from your list. Email marketing could help you and your business get to the next level so treat it as an essential part of your business and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
